Although the smart wearable device market seems to be in recession, Google seems to have not given up on this market, but continues to invest. The day before yesterday, Google announced the acquisition of Cronologics, a smart watch, to enhance its Android Wear system.
Can support Android, iOS and even Amazon Alexa at the same time
Cronologics was founded by former Google employees. Since 2014, the product CoWatch has been officially launched this year. There is nothing amazing on the hardware, but it is worth noting in software.
CoWatch is not equipped with Google's Android Wear system, but the Cronologics OS system developed by its own team, which claims to support both Android and iOS devices. In addition, CoWatch is the first smart watch to support Amazon Assistant Alexa. Users can call Uber, point pizza delivery, etc. directly to the watch.
Cronologics said on its website that they will push the conceptual boundaries of wearables and smartwatch products through the Android Wear system in the future and will join the Google team to continue their ideas.
Stalled smart watch boom
Google’s move on smartwatches has recently been a bit stagnant. Since the release of the Android Wear 2.0 system this year, the watch manufacturer has been unable to launch new products because of the delay in launching the official version. The market seems to have faded a wave of intelligence. The watch is hot.
Now this acquisition, it seems that Google’s smartwatch journey is not over yet. The new Android Wear system is expected to be officially launched early next year, and Google also officially released Android Wear 2.0 Developer Preview 4 the day before, adding new APIs to allow developers to develop more independent App.
