Pennsylvania, MALVERN — August 7, 2013 — A few days ago, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE stock code: VSH) announced the release of two new series of 10mm standard surface-mount 7-segment LED digital tubes in small, low-profile packages --- VDMx10x0 and VDMx10A1 series, these two digital tubes use AllnGap material on the basis of GaAs chip technology, so that the luminous intensity reaches the typical value of 2750μcd. There are big red, light orange, yellow and green, which can be used in various applications.
The device introduced today uses a digital tube with a uniform light emission and no stains and a gray package surface. VDMx10A1 series LED digital tube adopts common anode configuration, and the package height is only 2.1mm. VDMx10x0 series devices offer common anode and common cathode configurations, and the package height is 3.75mm.
The half-strength angle of these LED digital tubes is ± 50 °, and the highest forward voltage of 2.6V can achieve low power consumption. The suitable peak current of each digital tube is 60mA. All devices are grouped according to luminous intensity, and yellow, green, and light orange digital tubes are also classified by color.
For any device with digital reading, the designer can replace the leaded 7-segment digital tube in the control unit and panel instrument with VDMx10x0 and VDMx10A1. Typical end products include test and measurement equipment, POS machines, telecommunications systems, office equipment, consumer electronics and medical equipment.
These devices are RoHS compliant and can use an infrared reflow soldering process, which is pre-processed according to JEDEC Level 3.
The VDMx10x0 and VDMx10A1 series are now available for sampling and mass production has been achieved. The lead time for bulk orders is six weeks.
