The audience can perform an individual 3D scan, put the stereoscopic image on paper, board the magazine cover, simulate the production process of the sheet metal bending machine through digital twins, and optimize the results according to the different characteristics of various raw materials.

Combine 3D scanning and low volume customization into one by connecting personalized services

As part of the “Solution Park”, Pepperl+Fuch exhibited two new exhibits at the show, all of which are in line with the Industry 4.0 standard.

The company adheres to the concept of “connected personalized service” and has first-hand experience in small batch customization.

The audience stepped into the Pepperl+Four Experience Zone for individual 3D scanning. Six high-precision R2000 series two-dimensional LiDAR sensors are arranged around the experience area to scan the audience from head to toe and obtain personal contour measurement data, which is stored on the NeoNeon data cloud operated by the Becoma subsidiary NeocepTIon. These data are converted into images and published on the cover of the show's personalized magazines, which also provide a strong data base for further 3D image processing worldwide.

With "Digital Twins", viewers can use flexible metal sheets to configure their choice of products, which will be sent to a sheet metal bending machine from the Austrian manufacturer Salvagnini, which will immediately start producing the product.

In order to make small batch customizations without bending tests, the process must be optimized for each batch of material because the bending properties of the sheet metal can vary widely. The actual condition of the metal sheet is analyzed at the beginning of the bending process of the sheet metal, and the digitized twins developed by the Linz Manufacturing Center (LCM) are used for alignment, and the adjustment parameters are calculated and transferred to the machine while bending.

The inductive positioning system and ultrasonic sensor manufactured by Pepperl+Fuchs play an important role in the process of material processing optimization. For efficient quality control, the finished profile is measured using optical sensors from the Pepperl+Fuchs Smart Runner Matcher series.
