Instructions for use of Intron WIFI module ETA6103 and ETA303 series

Customers often need to use WIFI for network communication in practical applications. Before that, Intron has always recommended the use of third-party WIFI module solutions. Using third-party WIFI modules is simple and convenient, but there are also several disadvantages:

1. Because it is a third-party module, it is inconvenient to use your own program code for call management, especially the selection and connection of nearby AP points

2. The follow-up maintenance of the product is inconvenient, and it is difficult to guarantee the stability of the third-party module

3. Modules are not easy to integrate

Therefore, Intron launched the ETA6103 module, which provides WIFI connection and network communication through the serial port to provide customers with more choices.

ETA6103 is a low-cost wireless module composed of serial WiFi module E103 (esp8266ex chip) + USB to serial chip CH340T. Its external interface is miniPCIe interface, which can be connected to Intron backplane USB through ETA303 module, or directly connected to ESMARK series evaluation On the floor. Customers can also refer to the module schematic diagram provided by Intron, design the chip directly on its own baseboard, and connect it to any serial port on the board for use.

Module description

ETA6103 uses the E103 chip, communicates through the serial port and uses AT commands to realize AP selection and connection, network address ip query, PING function, TCP and UDP communication functions.

The network upload and download speed is mainly limited by the serial port speed. Under the 460800 serial port baud rate, the limit transmission speed can be close to 40KB/s, which can meet the needs of most industrial control applications.

The module supports up to 5 links. When used as a TCP server, it can only support up to 5 clients to connect at the same time. (If you open a TCP client connection and a UDP connection at the same time, and then open the TCP server, you can only support up to 3 clients to connect at the same time). Customers need to consider whether this restriction has an impact on the application.

The module uses AT commands for TCP or UDP connection and data transmission and reception. It can meet the general network applications based on TCP/UDP, can not realize some complex SOCKET functions, and can not be used in network applications such as VPN.

Product support

Intron provides the schematic diagram of the ETA6103 module, and customers can design by themselves referring to the document.

Intron also provides detailed routines for linux and wince. In the routines, the ETA6103 module is encapsulated so that customers can develop the network without knowing the specific AT commands.
