The LED phosphors currently on the market all have particle size distribution parameters indicated by the average particle size of D50.

From 4um, 8um, 10um, 13um, 15um, 17um, 20um, 25um, 30um, the shape of the phosphor crystals of different manufacturers is different, and the D50 reference value is different. It is difficult to determine which manufacturer's fluorescence The distinction between the efficacy of the powder on the same particle size. While many packaging companies do not have phosphor detection equipment, we only have to determine the dose of phosphor in the LED packaging process through experiments. It is necessary to determine that the phosphor crystal has high excitation efficiency and low dosage. The most perfect crystal shape is close. Spherical. (Figure 1)

As the package form changes, white light engineers should understand how different types of package products should be packaged with phosphors of large particle size, and can not easily distinguish between high-power and low-power phosphors. Different types of packaged products, the carrier carrying the phosphor is not the same size, and the size of the phosphor can be determined according to the size of the carrier. In order to more effectively, the package form uses the full match and perfect combination between the chip and the phosphor. Improve product yield and consistency of production and shipment, reduce production costs, and save resources to avoid waste.

1. In-line package, generally in order to improve the yield, improve the light efficiency can be encapsulated with 8-13um particles of phosphor.

2. SMD3528 this type of package, can be packaged with 8-17um particles of phosphor, but 8um phosphor packaged product yield high quality control, the disadvantage is that the light effect is not 13um, or 17um particles The phosphor package has high light efficiency. How to achieve a win-win situation? We generally recommend white light engineers to use 13um particles for the 3528 form of packaging. In this way, there is no high-efficiency light-encapsulated phosphor with 17 um particles, but it does not lose too much product for 17um granule phosphor. Consider the 13um granule phosphor control from the perspective of manufacturing. Products with a higher yield than 17um are more conducive to lower production costs.


3.5050, 5630, 3535, this type of package can be packaged with a 17um-25um type of phosphor, because the carrier area is large, the phosphor loading of large particles can be fully satisfied, but the disadvantage is the fluorescence of large particles. Powder, easy to precipitate, difficult to control consistency, which requires us to use different processes, different viscosity of the phosphor glue to mix large particles of phosphor.

4. High-power 1W products in this package form We generally recommend white light engineers to use 17-25um or 4um phosphor to improve the spot.

5. High-power integrated module, COB form package, we generally recommend white light engineers to use 25-30um particles of phosphor for packaging.
