The ADM7170 is a CMOS, low dropout (LDO) linear regulator that operates from a 2.3 V to 6.5 V supply and has a maximum output current of 500 mA. This high output current LDO is ideal for regulating high performance analog and mixed signal circuits from 6 V to 1.2 V. The device's advanced proprietary architecture provides high power supply rejection, low noise, and a small 4.7 μF ceramic output capacitor for excellent line and load transient response. The load transient response is typically 1.5 μs (1 mA to 500 mA load step).
The ADM7170 offers 17 fixed output voltage options. These options provide the following voltages: 1.3 V, 1.8 V, 2.5 V, 3.0 V, 3.3 V, 4.2 V, and 5.0 V. The following additional voltage options are available upon special request: 1.5 V, 1.85 V, 2.0 V, 2.2 V, 2.7 V, 2.75 V, 2.8 V, 2.85 V, 3.8 V and 4.6 V. An adjustable version is also available, which can be adjusted to 1.2 V to VIN − VDO by an external feedback divider.
The start-up time can be adjusted via the soft-start pin to control the inrush current. With a 1 nF soft-start capacitor, the typical startup time is approximately 1.0 ms.
The ADM7170 regulator has an output noise voltage of 5 μV rms and is unaffected by the output voltage. Available in an 8-lead, 3 mm × 3 mm LFCSP package, the ADM7170 is not only very compact, but also offers excellent thermal performance for thin, small form factor applications requiring up to 500 mA of output current.
Advantages of ADM7170:
1. Input voltage range: 2.3 V to 6.5 V
2, the maximum load current: 500 mA
3. Low noise: 5 μV rms, independent of output voltage (100 Hz to 100 kHz)
4. Fast transient response: 1.5 μs (1 mA to 500 mA load step)
5. PSRR: 60 dB (100 kHz)
6. Low dropout: 42 mV (500 mA load, VOUT = 3 V)
ADM7170 application range:
1. Adapt to noise sensitive applications: ADC and DAC circuits, precision amplifiers, PLL/VCO and clock ICs
2. Communication and infrastructure
3. Medical and health care
4. Industrial and instrumentation
