3. Monitoring and confrontation solutions

In addition to the convenience and benefits of all aspects, drones will also pose great challenges to relevant management, and how to supervise their health development is at hand. A solution that can be used on the market: to detect drones in protected areas by using radar, electro-optical/infrared or acoustic methods.

However, the above scheme may have the following disadvantages:

Miniature unmanned aerial vehicles are relatively small and difficult to see

Great depending on temperature and environmental factors

Early warning is not available (pre-takeoff detection)

Remote operator does not recognize

Other criminal or hostile activities may be performed

The main challenge in the field of radio controlled drone monitoring and countermeasures is response time. The target signal must be detected, identified, located, and reversed in the shortest amount of time. Thanks to long-term work in the field of radio monitoring and radiolocation, Rohde & Schwarz is able to provide the best solution to ensure optimal monitoring and monitoring of the activities of radio-controlled drones.

Key features of Rohde & Schwarz solutions:

Responsive: Complete detection, identification, direction finding, and interference with threats in less than 20 seconds, including operator decision time. Ability to identify the drone's radio control signal transmission immediately after the drone is turned on (even before take-off)

Frequency range: covers all relevant frequency ranges used by modern drones: 433 MHz, 2.4 GHz and 5.8 GHz

Workflow automation: online detection of frequency agile short-term signals, frequency hopping analysis, frequency hopping parameters (ie, frequency hopping duration, frequency hopping rate, modulation, and other parameters)

Outstanding time resolution: minimum burst duration = 500 μs

Wideband Frequency Hopper Detection: Maximum Frequency Hopper Bandwidth = 2.5 MHz

Wideband direction finding: maximum real-time bandwidth = 80 MHz

Advanced direction finding: multi-stage direction finding antenna with superior direction finding accuracy, sensitivity and anti-reflection capability

Efficient interference capability: Advanced exciter for interference, only interferes with radio controlled drone signals, other legal signals in the same frequency band are not affected

Automatic IQ Recording: Detailed analysis of IQ records of recorded complex signal scenarios by technical signal analysis software to explore new drones. At the same time, it can also be saved as conclusive evidence.

The hardware configuration is as follows:

The entire ARDRONIS (Automatic Radio Control UAV Identification System) system can achieve the following tasks:

Extensive "complete solution" against threats from frequency hopping and Wi/Fi control mini drones

Detect, identify, direction, track, record, and suppress operators

The system features an efficient and automated integrated workflow, an ergonomically designed, easy-to-use GUI. Once the far end control link is identified, the video downlink is automatically detected. When the wireless control file is detected, the alarm/prompt message is automatically triggered to display the video link. As shown below

(1) Effective detection and identification, accurate positioning

The goal is to quickly and stably detect radio control links. An early warning can be implemented, that is, a fast response scheme for radio controlled micro drones, even before the drone takes off. The radio control signal is detected as soon as the remote control signal is turned on.

In addition, the surrounding environment can be perceived in advance, and an active wireless control or an overview of the Wi-Fi controlled drone can be obtained in the area covered by the monitoring station, and an automatic alarm/prompt danger occurs in the set area.

The system can locate remote operators and/or drones, depending on the link that is present: uplink (remote operator), downlink (video link of the drone).

(2) confrontation

The goal is to interrupt the control link between the remote operator and the drone.

Most drones have a "fail safe" mode, and if the wireless control link is interrupted, the drone can land in place or return to its original location.

The "tracking jammer" provided by the system can continuously track the frequency hopping control signal of the drone without disturbing other normal communication of the same frequency band ISM (for example: WIFI, Bluetooth), which is also different from other conventional interference systems. Where.

(3) Data recording

Data Logging (Automatic Smart Recording Scheme) The following evidence can be gathered: Recording a complete scene (WB), recording individual shots (NB), recording event log files, and recording video images.

Post-processing can also be performed to identify remote controls used in detailed technical analysis after a wireless event. In addition, the video downlink is recorded, the location of the remote operator is tracked, and the relevant evidence is finally saved.

(4) Open interface to extend the threat database

The system provides an open interface, which is integrated into the third solution using an open XML interface to generate a customized solution. Users can integrate ARDRo nIS into their own solutions such as radar, optoelectronics, infrared and acoustics.

In addition, the system can extend the database/threat library to continuously extend the remotely controlled file vault. The database is also easily extended by the operator training new files.

Applications for ARDRo nIS can be found in the list below, including the corresponding applications, features, and system configurations.
