Rongwen plans to provide 48,000 盏 controllable LED streetlight installations for Guangdong Province

Echelon Corporation (NASDAQ: ELON) recently announced that its key customer in China, Rongwen, has undertaken a project to provide 48,000 LED street lights and a lighting control system for Dongguan and Foshan, Guangdong Province. The project is expected to be the world's largest installation of controllable LED street lights.

Rongwen's solution leverages the open ISO/IEC 14908 control networking standard when deployed. With the help of Echelon Power Line Communication (PLC) transceivers and segment controllers, Rongwen provided LED luminaires and management software and adopted the ISO 14908 standard. Rongwen also uses the ESCO (Energy Conservation Service Company) model to provide financing, project management and ongoing operations services for the project.
