(QTI), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated, has officially launched Qualcomm Snapdragon SenseTM ID 3D fingerprinting technology, the first mobile-based 3D fingerprint authentication solution in the mobile industry, to expand its leading position in mobile security. QTI's new technology is developed for government-level biometric solutions, providing greater recognition, applicability and integration than traditional capacitive touchscreen-based fingerprinting.
The new certification platform uses Qualcomm® SecureMSMTM technology and the Fast IDenTIty Online Alliance Universal Authencation Framework to provide password-free authentication, further enhancing interoperability between online terminals, avoiding setup and memory Trouble with multiple usernames and passwords. This new standard for mobile terminal authentication and browser plug-ins is designed to enable FIDO-certified websites or cloud applications to interact with a variety of existing and future FIDO terminals.
QTI's ultrasonic fingerprinting technology offers many unique advantages over capacitive touchscreen-based fingerprinting, including the ability to scan through smartphone housings made of glass, aluminum, stainless steel, sapphire or plastic. This unique advantage provides QTI's OEM customers with the flexibility to design a new generation of elegant, innovative and differentiated terminals. In addition, the user experience is enhanced by the ability to scan without the presence of dirt that may be present on the finger, such as sweat, hand cream or condensation, providing a more stable and accurate method of authentication. In addition, QTI's ultrasound-based solution uses sound waves directly across the surface of the skin to identify three-dimensional details and unique fingerprint features that are currently unrecognizable by capacitive touchscreen-based fingerprinting, including fingerprint ridges and sweat pores.
