Cable products welcome the EU new regulations

Cable products welcome the EU new regulations A few days ago, at the 2013 Wire and Cable International Market Development and Technology Seminar, Qian Shulin, Business Development Manager of BSI (British Standards Association) stated that the European Building Products Regulation (CPR) was promulgated on April 4, 2011, April 24th. Effective on the day, the transitional period ended on July 1, 2013, and the Building Products Directive (CPD) was abolished. CPD is committed to a more simple, transparent and efficient legal construction and improvement of the EU construction product market.

Qian Shulin introduced the differences between the new European Union (CPR) and old (CPD) cable products:

The legal framework of the old CPD member states is not the same; CE certification is not compulsory in 5 member states (including the UK); ER3 “Health, Hygiene and Environment” includes only households, indoor and direct environments; conformity assessment systems; introduction of EU directives Simplified procedures; only set manufacturer's responsibility; EU technical approval; announcement of designated agencies and ETA (European technical approval) approved agencies broad standards; member states regulations and information changes; legal principles, interpretation is not clear;

The new version of CPR regulations is directly adopted by each member country relative to CPD; the declaration of conformity standards and CE certification are mandatory; ER3 is extended to include the construction phase, demolishing and wider environment; performance stability assessment and verification system CPR itself includes streamlined procedures; responsibility for the supply chain under the new legal framework; technical assessment using EU assessment documents; special requirements for accreditation and technical assessment agencies for designated agencies NB; clear.

Qian Shulin also explained the patience performance of cable products in CPR. European Union Decision 2000/367/EC (Modified Document 2011/232/EU) Section VI stipulates the passive fire-resistant classification of power cables, signal cables and cables used in buildings, and fire protection systems for cables and cables; The classification standard is EN 13501-3:2005+A1:2009, fire-retardant fire-resistant devices; classified according to the power supply or signal duration P, divided into 5 categories of 15, 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes; note that so far, , CPR has not mandatory provisions for passive fire resistance. Therefore, when products are sold in the EU market, they must pay attention to relevant laws and regulations in the target market countries.

This is the first cooperation between the National Wire and Cable Quality Supervision and Inspection Center (Jiangsu) (NTCW) and the British Standards Association (BSI) Shanghai Branch. Founded in 1901, the BSI Group was awarded the British Royal Charter in 1929. It is the UK's national standards body and the world's first national standards agency. It currently has more than 68,000 customers in more than 150 countries.

The conference was held at the National Wire and Cable Testing Center in Yixing, Jiangsu Province. More than 60 members from more than 30 enterprises in Jiangsu and Zhejiang participated in the conference.
