Third Generation APU Will Support DDR3-2133 Continuing to Change Interfaces

According to AMD's roadmap published in February, the third-generation APU, codenamed "Kaveri," will be available in a certain period of time in 2013 to replace the upcoming Trinity. As part of the second-generation APU platform Virgo, Trinity uses 2-4 piledriver Piledriver cores that support Turbo Core 3.0 acceleration technology, integrates the VLIW4 architecture DirectX 11 graphics core and DDR3-1866 memory controller, and uses Socket FM2 slots.

On the basis of this, Kaveri will further upgrade to 2-4 steamroller cores for the GCN architecture. The news site Fudzilla reported that Kaveri will still replace the slot - using the FS2L; Kaveri will also integrate the DDR3-2133 memory controller due to the higher memory bandwidth requirements after the graphics core upgrade, which has reached the highest standard of DDR3.
