Taiwan's IC output Q2 is forecast to increase by 6.9%

The Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association (TSIA) pointed out that in the first quarter Taiwan's IC production value was NT$397.9 billion, a 6.8% decrease in the quarter; it is expected that the second quarter is expected to climb to RMB 425.3 billion, which will increase by 6.9% quarter-to-quarter.

According to the TSIA survey, in the first quarter of 2006, the output value of Taiwan including IC manufacturing, IC design, IC packaging and IC test industry all slipped compared to the fourth quarter of last year; in the first quarter of the IC design industry, the output value was 93.6 billion yuan, which was 9.9% lower than the previous quarter. The output value of the IC manufacturing sector in the first quarter was 197 billion yuan, down 5.9% in the quarter; the output value of the IC packaging industry was 71.4 billion yuan, down 5.6% in the quarter; the output value of the IC test industry was 33.2 billion yuan, down 5.7% in the quarter.

TSIA is optimistic that the output value of the IC manufacturing, design, packaging and testing industries in the second quarter is expected to recover in full. The overall IC output value will reach 425.3 billion yuan, which will increase by 6.9% quarter-to-quarter.

Among them, the output value of IC manufacturing industry in the second quarter is expected to reach 213.5 billion yuan, which will increase 8.4% in the quarter, and the largest growth rate; IC design industry output value can reach 99.2 billion yuan, will increase 6% quarterly.

The second quarter of IC packaging industry output value can reach 78 billion yuan, will increase 5.3% quarter; IC test industry output value of 36.4 billion yuan, quarterly increase of 4.2%.
