SOURIAU exits the new SWIM (Shallow Water IMmersion) series designed for marine applications up to 300 meters in depth. This range of connectors is used in a number of innovative areas such as surface drones for performing environmental assessment tasks, marine surveillance equipment, oil exploration, meteorological buoys, commercial diving, OCROVs (marine-grade remotely operated submersibles), and marine observation using drones. It needs to be connected to many sensing devices (hydrophones, temperature sensors, salinity sensors, etc.).
SWIM: Connector Series Designed for Shallow Water Immersion Applications
“If you can meet the requirements of deeper waters, then it is natural to deal with shallow waters.†This assumption is not correct. For example, the connector maintains water tightness in deep waters, but that doesn't mean it can be done in shallow waters. The watertight design must take into account the pressure on the joint, so the immersion depth also needs to be considered. When using SWIM, screwing the connector plug into the socket locks the two components together and fits the two O-rings at the interface to maintain the watertightness of the joint even at low pressures. The cable is molded to connect the plug, which enhances waterproof protection. Because SWIM is made of thermoplastic materials, it can withstand seawater erosion and temperature changes from -20 to +70 °C for a long time. Although there are a large number of pin pins, the user can easily blindly insert the plug and the jack by means of a threaded plug and a numbered pin.

The series is available in two housing sizes, 12 different pin-pin arrangements, and a hybrid version of the power supply and signal. Includes 4 pin sizes from 20 to 12 and is complemented by two coaxial contacts (250 to 75 ohms).
