What does the PV component PID effect mean? When it comes to PV modules, we must pay attention to its two major effects, one is the hot spot effect and the other is the PID effect. So, what is the PV PID effect?

The full name of PID in English is: PotenTIal Induced DegradaTIon, which is the potential induced attenuation.

In 2005, SunPower Corporation of the United States first discovered and proposed the PID effect, which means that the components work at high voltage for a long time, there is leakage current between the cover glass, the packaging material and the frame, and a large amount of electric charge is accumulated on the surface of the battery sheet, so that the surface of the battery sheet is passivated. The effect is degraded, resulting in a fill factor, short circuit current, and open circuit voltage drop, making the component performance lower than the design standard, but this attenuation is reversible.

Some studies have also found that the PID effect is explained: when the photovoltaic module is under negative bias, the leakage current anode ions (generally Na ions) flow into the cell, reducing the parallel resistance of the cell. That is, impurities appear in the semiconductor, which form a conductive path inside the battery, reducing the current output of the component.

The third reason for generating the PID effect of the PV module is that the edge portion of the PV module is prone to moisture and water. When EVA is hydrolyzed, acetic acid is formed, and Na in acetic acid and glass reacts to generate a large amount of freely moving Na ions. Reacts with the silver grid lines on the surface of the cell, corroding the cell gate lines, resulting in an increase in series resistance, resulting in degradation of component performance, such attenuation being unrecoverable.

It can be seen that there are two main reasons for the formation of the PID effect of photovoltaic modules:

1. The original PN junction electric field changes, or there are other current channels, causing the photo-generated current actually flowing through the PN junction to decrease;

2. The device is affected by ion migration, and the material properties undergo an irreversible change, and the output power is smaller than that of the original manufactured component.

At present, according to the PV component PID effect, although the PID can be weakened or avoided from the battery, component and system side respectively, the effect of the PID effect is finally reflected on the battery chip. Therefore, it is recommended that battery manufacturers conduct more comprehensive research on products, combining upstream and downstream, and considering cost-effective solutions as a whole.

Operating temperature range:

Storage temperature range:

Mini Vibration Motor should be stored ta a temperature of -15~65℃.

In case of storage outside this range,the grease on the gearhead area will become unable to function normally and the motor will become unable to start.
