March 1, 2017, Beijing-- Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: KEYS) today announced an increase in its commitment to the Telecommunications Infrastructure Project (TIP), a partnership between Facebook and several other leading companies (see) Founded. Keysight is co-chair of a newly formed group focused on test automation within the TIP OpenCellular project team. As a member of this group, Keysight will provide open source code to support OpenCellular base station design verification and low-cost manufacturing solutions for automated testing.
Future wireless networks are expected to be ubiquitous, perform well, and reach the world. However, to date, less than half of the world's population has access to the Internet. This is mainly due to geographical and/or economic factors that limit the coverage of traditional cellular networks. Even in areas where the Internet is accessible, the demand for high-data-intensive services such as video and virtual reality is growing, requiring existing infrastructure to be adapted to meet these needs.
Dr. Mark Pierpont, Vice President of Keysight Technologies and General Manager of the Internet Infrastructure Solutions Group, said: “Keysight is pleased to announce an increase in investment in telecommunications infrastructure projects. Our solutions will help streamline the testing process and drive OpenCellular is deployed globally."
Ashish Kelkar, Director of TIP Council and Director of Infrastructure Strategy for Facebook, said: “Keysight's important contribution to TIP will help service providers and manufacturers significantly simplify the implementation and manufacturing of their designs. They enable our communities to be fast and efficient. Create a low-cost network that meets future needs."
Keysight will showcase TIP test cases and the latest software-centric design and test solutions at Mobile World Congress 2017 to support the development of LTE-A, 5G, IoT and connected car technologies. The conference will be held in Barcelona from February 27th to March 2nd, 2017. The Keysight booth will be located at Hall 6G10 in Hall 6.
